Our Vision

United Within is a non-profit organization designed to provide financial and systemic resources to improve access to mental health services in the local community. Our approach is two-fold:

  • Provide direct mental health services for children, adults, and families who may struggle with the means to access care

  • Improve access to higher education for people of color seeking to enter into the helping profession.

A Pathway to Success

United Within provides scholarships, internship opportunities, LAC supervision subsidies, and the ability to network with local professionals in the counseling field. United Within believes that by eliminating barriers for aspiring mental health professionals, we increase the level of access to an ever-growing population of people needing mental health services. United Within partners with Life Within to provide the following opportunities to get more minorities into the helping professions.

Internship and Scholarship

In partnership with United Within, Life Within Counseling Group will host 1-2 counseling interns from a racial minority for a 12 month internship designed to meet the interns Practicum and Internship hour requirements. United Within offers an educational scholarship of $250 per semester to all minority students who are accepted as Interns at Life Within.

LAC Supervision

Following Internship and successful licensure process, students can apply to complete their licensure supervision at Life Within with a Board of Examiners credentialled supervisor. Supervision at Life Within is designed for counselors to receive quality supervision from supervisors actively practicing in the community and for Life Within to stay in contact with preferred candidates for future at Life Within as fully licensed counselors.

United Within offers a financial subsidy that pays for a majority of the supervision costs to all people of color who are accepted as supervisees by Life Within supervisors.
