How Can We Help?

Does any of this sound familiar:

  • Your kids are constantly yelling, and no one seems happy.

  • If you could do it all over again, it would be different.

Leading a healthy, happy family life can be a struggle for a number of reasons, but the ending of the story has not been written. Let's get to work. At Life Within, we are dedicated to helping families find more reasons to laugh and smile together and enjoy each other’s company. We want to help you and your loved ones develop trusting, caring relationships and improve every aspect of your day to day lives. We offer a variety of family therapy options.

Reasons for Your Family to Consider Therapeutic Care

Patients seek family therapy in a variety of situations. Every family is different, but some of the many reasons patients visit the trusted Life Within team for family therapeutic care include:

  • One or more family members have displayed extreme responses to difficult situations.

  • One or more family members don’t seem to “pull their weight,” and/or other family members feel overburdened.

  • One or more family members are no longer communicating openly and honestly.

  • One or more family members are withdrawn.

  • One or more family members are behaving violently and/or there is a fear of violent behavior.

  • One or more family members exhibit signs of hopelessness, listlessness, or depression.

  • One or more family members feel helpless or struggle to cope with daily stresses.

  • One or more family members have experienced trauma and are not coping or recovering well.

  • Parents are considering divorce or separation or have divorced or separate and the family is struggling to cope.

  • One or more family members are having difficulty coping with a death in the family.

  • One or more children are displaying behavioral concerns at home and/or school.

  • One or more family members are struggling with addiction (substance abuse, gambling, etc.).

  • One or more family members are exhibiting self-destructive behaviors (eating disorders, cutting, etc.).

How Your Family May Benefit from Therapeutic Care

If you’re not sure whether or not your family should move forward with therapeutic care, we invite you to schedule a consultation with the Life Within team. We’ll talk to you about the concerns you’re experiencing, discuss the available therapies, and partner with you to determine whether or not family therapy is right for you and your loved ones. If you do decide to move forward with family therapy, there are a number of benefits associated with these therapeutic treatments, including:

  • Establish a better family dynamic – through improved communication and problem solving skills, we can help family members better understand each other. Our clinicians provide practical methods to create a safe, functional home environment and improve trust between family members. We can also help families work through special situations, including loss, divorce, addiction, and other concerns.

  • Bring family together – during and following a crisis or traumatic event, your family life may suffer. Deaths in the family, domestic violence, divorce, and other conflicts can make it difficult for members of the family to feel comfortable communicating openly. Therapy sessions and other therapeutic techniques can bring the family back together and help you to thrive together.

  • Decreased conflict – to decrease conflict, we work with each member of the family to understand and empathize with other members of the family. We help patients develop anger management skills to decrease arguments and bickering. Many of these conflict issues are tackled through nurturing better communication skills, establishing boundaries, and developing practical methods of tackling generational struggles.
